[…] I wasn’t comfortable being involved with people who were homophobic. Why should I compromise who I am to make other people comfortable? This came to a head after the EF! Journal published an article about population control, and one of the solutions offered by the author was that there were all these people with AIDS who were going to die off (see EF!J Beltane 1987). It was called a satire once it became a controversy, but it didn’t strike me as funny.
